Our trips on Friday were terrific. The 9am Ocean Magic went east to Hein bank where we saw three Minkes foraging at bait balls. The large numbers of sea bird and gulls on the surface indicated that there was plenty of krill and small fish around. The 9am Zodiac headed west with our Skipper Shaun "Saltchuck" we took in the the sights of Vancouver Island's rugged coastline and got a great look at a pair of Bald Eagles and many Harbor Seals. Shaun took the time to explain the effects the tide has on these waters. The noon Ocean Magic took us West to search for a report of a Humpback Whale. Our Skipper Kurt put us in great position to view this magnificent animal. With the sunlight sparkling on the water this whale would show tail on every dive. The 3:30 Ocean Magic caught up with the Humpback Whale just off Race Rocks Light House. Our passengers enjoyed the sights of this gentle giant working the water. We then toured Race Rocks Ecological Reserve and saw the many sea birds and harbor seal. It was a wonderful day of wildlife adventures with Prince Of Whales !
