On Saturday during a blue sky and perfectly hot summer weather, we deployed from Vancouver on the new zodiac tour. Our skipper Sandy give us a historical review of the harbour, the newly designed conference center with an ecological roof sporting a variety of foliage as well as many other interesting sightings along route. We traveled inwards past the massive freighter docks and past the Vancouver energy plant into an immediate amazing wilderness just beyond Vancouvers' picturesque skyline... We headed into the canal which boasted incredible mountains, and waterfalls such as Granite Falls and Silver Falls. Along route we were introduced to BC's earliest hydro power station whose sign read that it was still operational. The turn of the century structure (designed by the same man who produced the Victoria Parliament buildings) yielded some historical and haunting beauty. We observed a variety of small uninhabited islands which host a variety of life such as harbour seals and sea birds. Later on in the season the salmon will be expected to return to the very end of the canal and there is also some good bear sightings to be expected, i'll most definately need to return for that!

We witnessed the many small communities taking full advantage of the quint life offering it's very own natural universe, a haven for kayakers and divers. On route back to Vancouver we enjoyed the experience of wind and sea spray moving past our faces reminding us of how wonderful it is to be alive. As we inched closer to the metropolitan we approached the Lions Gate bridge and observed the spectacular Stanley park along side the world famous Vancouver skyline. Sandy gave us a beautiful interpretation of various businesses and structures along route back to the dock where we deployed and then before we realized it, our tour was over. What an amazing way to learn about and view Vancouver... Step out into the very backyard that I would consider a best kept secret.

A special shout out to friend and actor Andre Todorovich for hanging out with us today!
