Whales, whales and more whales everywhere. Our weather on the west coast has taken a bit of a change over the weekend from the hot weather of late. Fog in August has arrived some mornings but the whales are still out there looming large in the ethereal mist. Makes for even greater excitement as we travel the incredibly rich waters of this area to find the whales. Our 9am, 12.15pm and 3.30pm 'Ocean Magic' caught up with many members of the three Southern Resident Pods, J , K , and L off shore of San Juan Island. We could see them breach in the fog, and socialize among themselves. Some males were traveling with their mothers, and others, were following the females from different pods. It was party time and the whales were loving every minute of their encounters. Awesome to watch these very tactile marine mammals. Our expert crew, Capt Shaun, Rachelle, Marnie and Scott shared their knowledge of the creatures found in these waters with the guests on board. We were able to identify some of the big males, L 78. L 88, L 41, L79, J 27 and J 26. A few Harbour Seals were seen on our return to the harbour. It was a wonderful day on the water again.
