It was another sunny day here on the west coast August 12th. The 9am 'Ocean Magic 2' headed out of the harbour and turned toward the west. A report had come in that the Southern Resident pods, J, K and L were traveling out past Sooke. We caught up with them at Sheringham Lighthouse. Capt. Anna and her all girl crew, Mika, Marnie and Arleigh shared a wealth of knowledge with our guests on board, while we watched several large males, J 27. 'Blackberry', and K 21, 'Cappuccino ' pass by. Several Orca in the distance were foraging. Most of the Orca appeared to be traveling west and well spread out. A visit to Race Rocks Ecological Reserve gave us views of Harbour and Elephant Seals, California and Steller Sea Lions. The pleasing weather and water conditions as well as sightings of the marine life here on the west coast, provided once again a most memorable wildlife adventure.
