Ocean Magic Adventure Oct 3 2008

Although the sky threatened rain the window of opportunity was there for the 12.15pm Ocean Magic trip this Friday afternoon. We headed out west with Capt.Shamus in the wheelhouse. We were on a search for 6 illusive Transient killer whales that had been reported.Their absence led us to believe they had disappeared into the fog that hung around Sheringham Lighthouse. So we headed to Race Rocks and had good looks at several species of marine mammal including, Harbour seal, California and Steller Sea Lion. Many Gull species are now hanging out on the rocks of this protected marine reserve. Our return trip found three active Humpback Whales.The young calf thrilled us all with a surprise breach. Our on board naturalists, Derek and Kurt shared their wealth of knowledge with the passengers. We returned to the harbour with big smiles on our faces after another exciting trip.
