Ocean Magic Wildlife Adventure Sept 6

3:30 Ocean Magic
12:15 Ocean Magic
Our 12:15 Ocean Magic on Sept 6, skippered by Shaun "Saltchuck" was great wildlife adventure. We set our course west past Race Rocks and on to Beecher Bay on the west side of Vancouver Island. Our search was for Transient Orca, and we were working close to the shoreline for these majestic animals. It wasn't long before I spotted them up ahead. We had found them, four Orca the T19's with T18, traveling east. Our passengers enjoyed a great viewing with these whales working the water so close the Vancouver Island's picturesque shoreline. We then made our way through Race Rocks Ecological Reserve and viewed the many Sea Lions and Harbor Seals. This was yet another awesome Prince of Whales Wildlife Adventure!

The wind, the rain and tide change created some very choppy water for the 3.30pm Ocean Magic 2 trip, but we were able to catch up with the four Transient Orca that had been seen on the previous trip. They were bucking some big waves and soon disappeared off to the east where the seas were even bigger. Our Capt. Shaun headed the Ocean Magic vessel west to look for Humpback whales but didn't find any. A visit to Race Rocks Ecological Reserve came up with California, and Steller Sea Lions and a few Harbour Seals. Our on board Naturalists Scott, Stuart and Marnie, shared a whole lot of info on the marine life found here on the west coast. Despite the raindrops our guests got to see some of the wildlife in these waters.
