Zodiac Wildlife Adventure Noon June 19

Our wildlife adventures get more exciting each day. With warmer temperatures, longer daylight hours and whales out there, one is bound to experience the real thrill of a westcoast adventure in a bright yellow Zodiac. Our intrepid Skipper, Mark, 'Mallard' took our 12 noon zodiac south to Constance Bank in the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Here we caught up with five members of L pod, two females and three males, heading slowly out west in a resting formation. Our Skipper shared a wealth of knowledge with the international visitors on board from Holland, Germany, USA and parts of Canada. We soon found three more members of this, the largest Southern Resident Pod, of 40 individual whales. L 41, 'Mega' delighted us with a couple of enthusiastic breaches. We then found several Harbour Seals lounging at Race Rocks Ecological Reserve. Our return trip took us by an active Bald Eagles nest. It was another thrilling wildlife trip, with plenty of wind, waves and spray!
