With Capt. Tyler at the wheel of the 12.15pm Ocean Magic, we headed out of the harbour and east past Trail Island and then north up Haro Strait. It was a bright sunny day. We had guests from all over the world including New Zealand. Orca had been reported near Pender Island, one of the Gulf Islands of BC. During our trip to find two members of K pod, K 20 a female and K 38 her youngster, we encountered several groups of the shy, brown Harbour Porpoise. We had fleeting glimpses of these illusive animals. Sea birds , Rhinoceros Auklets were seen in good numbers. The Resident Orca , the two family members of K pod, were soon located at Pender Island. We watched their foraging behaviours close to the shoreline. Our on board Biologist Mika, and Naturalists' Marnie and Jill, shared their knowledge with guests on board. We returned to Victoria's busy little harbour airport after our wildlife adventure. It was yet another exciting trip with 'Prince of Whales'.
