On today’s Ocean Magic II noon trip we met up with the transient T41 Group off William Head. These meat-eating whales were heading north close along the shorelines. We then headed over to San Juan Island to view the southern resident, fish-eating, killer whales off Hanna Heights. All three pods were quite spread out from Kellet Bluff to Cattle Point. The whales put on a good show with breaches and a few spy hops. During the 3:30 trip we headed out to find the transients again but they had headed back to the south so we went over to view the residents who were now further offshore of False Bay. We saw a group of four whales grouped up a the surface who stayed there for and extended period of time until another female came over and then they all headed out to the west. The whales were vocal using discrete calls and whistles.
