What a beautiful day and we didn't have to go far to see the T30's (transient meat eating killer whales) as they were milling and traveling out in the Juan de Fuca Strait. We arrived and found out they had recently been feeding and now were in a traveling pattern. Watched as a MASSIVE ship ran right through their path, and right over top of the family of 4. The animals obviously dove deep and moved off to the side, see the video above. The large male breached about 200 meters in front of the Ocean Magic and there was obviously a feeding attempt made however don't think a kill occured. After we checked out Race Rocks where we always find facinating characters of the pinniped species. We moved on in search of a minke whale however didn't find it. Saw several porpoises milling however.

This evenings trip we ventured back into the Strait where the T30's were still located. We detoured around the strait in search of large baleen whales, but didn't find any. We of course make our routine stop in at Race Rocks before seeing the T30's on our way home. Some dramatic scenics this evening, and obviously fall is creeping in as the light is fading quickly around 6 pm already! Time flies when you're having fun!
