Today it was another amazing day on the water. Traveled to San Juan Island where the southern residents were feeding most of the day. Not sure where Jpod was. This afternoon, we watched several matriline groups traveling together in the area. Highlight of course was seeing all the babies with their families in particular, K22 & K41, the new baby born in late August 2006. We witnessed a small nursery of orcas, while K22 baby pushed K41 on the surface. This behavior has been seen before and we can only speculate that it is to assist in the young calfs well being. We saw several large Lpod males including Flash L73 who passed by on his own. For me it's been at least 2 weeks since I've seen these guys, what a treat for all onboard today to see the newest member of Kpod!

Please note: today we were not sure if this calf was new or was the baby born last month. We confirmed with a researcher that this is the mother and calf identified up top, who was born in late August.
