With the sunny weather continuing into October and the abundant wildlife for viewing in these productive waters, there is no better time to enjoy a wildlife adventure. Humpback Whales and Orca are still seen in this area most days, so take a trip on a yellow Zodiac or on the Ocean Magic. Our adventure for today Sat, Oct 3rd, took us out of the harbour to view a humpback whale that was actively foraging among hundreds of gulls and sea birds that were feeding at several bait-balls. This huge whale was moving fast as it chased schools of small fish. Our 12.15 Ocean Magic vessel then travelled east and took us over to Eagle Point off San Juan Island, where several members of all three Orca Pods, J, K and L were foraging off shore. We had excellent looks at J1 and J2 two of the oldest Orca from J Pod, also J 27, J 30, L 7 and K 11. A large male Orca, J 27, affectionately called 'Blackberry' gave us a spectacular 'SPYHOP' as we prepared to leave the area. With a little wind in the air, plenty of sunshine and whales around our guests were all smiles when we arrived back at the dock. It was another fantastic wildlife adventure.
