The Wildlife Adventures with '' Prince of Whales '' are becoming even more exciting now that J pod, one of our Resident pod of Orca, are being seen more often. With warmer weather and sunnier days on the horizon our trips are sure to bring smiles to our guests. That was exactly the kind of afternoon the Ocean Magic at 12.15pm experienced this Thursday. With Capts Chris and Matt in the wheelhouse, and our experienced and knowledgeable crew on board we headed east to San Juan Island. We encountered some members of J pod, a family group, the J 16's, travelling south west near Hein Bank. The smallest member, J 42, 'Echo' was seen swimming along side its mother,J16, 'Slick' ,and big brother J 26, ' 'Mike' was close at hand. Other members of J pod seen were J 28,J 30,J 27 and J 1 'Ruffles ' a large male orca off in the distance. Two Minke Whales surfaced while feeding much to everyone's delight. It was a wonderful encounter once again with these magical creatures of the deep.
