With brilliant blue skies overhead and calm seas all around, the ''Queen of Hearts'' Zodiac set out west to seek the fascinating wildlife to be found in these waters. Skipper Mark seems to know just where to find interesting marine animals. We soon found a young Humpback whale foraging. We also found unexpected ribbons of krill that could be seen in the waters around the zodiac. This tiny shrimp-like creature is a vital food source for many marine mammals and birds. Our visit to Race Rocks found a playful Elephant Seal blowing bubbles, kelping and roaring in the shallows of a small bay. Encounters with Harbour Seal, Bald Eagle and a lone California Sea Lion added to the mornings excitement. Another awesome trip was experienced by all on board.
