Today was perfect! Warm, sunny, calm blue skies, flat waters.... Jpod was hanging around their old stomping grounds of San Juan Island. They were northbound when we arrived, then southbound, then northbound etc etc. The Center for Whale Research was out documenting the group, who was breaching very close to them - pretty spectacular to see them and SR guru Ken on scene today. Breaches, spyhops, kelpings, surface scanning and lunges right in front of us! The group was extremely active today at times spread apart and then grouped up. J1 / Ruffles was on his own as usual but in the area with the others. What can I say except today was one of those days where you didn't know where to point your camera! horray!
