JKL Pods / San Juan Island

Here are some highlight photos from today's trip;

Spectacular day with jkl pods

For those of us who were out tonight, we know what a treat we had. Something I've never experienced before, high persuit hunting very close to the boat! JKL pods at San Juan Island all day - superpod, spread open in groups, sometimes showing us more then just a glance... You'll have to wait for the video to see :)

Ruffles breaching

I thought I would share this capture. As J1 / Ruffles is an older whale (thought to be around 53 or so), he is not seen breaching as often as some of the younger animals. Taken the same night as the J1 & J2 visit photos, J1 / Ruffles pulled a "half" breach as seen above. That night was filled with wonderous orca activity and I urge you to check out the whole series from that trip. It was a special moment, one definately worth sharing.
