May 25: Marie travelled all the way to Lopez Island and beyond to catch up with the fast moving J Pod Orca. It was a fun ride with wind, tide and lumpy seas. Great to see J 1 and the sprouter J 27 . The big boys!

A stunning shot taken by Clint of one of the members of J Pod near San Juan island on Saturday!

Marie got some great pictures on May 22nd on the Ocean Magic. They ended up over by Henry Island where they saw most of J Pod which was hugging the shoreline. J1, however, was out on his own so Marie and the rest of the passengers got a good look this celebrity. Later on they saw J19 and her calf J41 swim by (first picture).

A great afternoon in the sunshine at the San Juans!

Transient Orca

Tuesday was a great day on the water, once the whales were located by Mallard (one of our skippers, who was up on the hill spotting in the morning). Sighted were Transient Killer whales, T20 and T21.

Stranded

Prince of Whales Naturalist Nicola Hewson and part time zodiac skipper George Isherwood make the best of being stranded on land by joining othershore based whale watchers as Jpod cruises through Oak Bay.
